What is included in the immigration exam?
Our office's approach aligns with the guidance from the CDC and USCIS. The immigration exam involves several key steps:
-
Validation of Applicant’s Government-Issued Photo ID: This is essential for verifying the applicant's identity.
-
Verification of Vaccine Records: This includes reviewing written documentation of vaccine shots and/or blood immunity. Shots or blood immunity service can be provided by your civil surgeon's office or your primary care physician.
-
Required Lab Tests: These tests must be consistent with the current I-693 form, based on the applicant's age and risk factors. Importantly, these lab tests must be conducted by your civil surgeon's office; tests from other providers are not acceptable.
-
Physical Exam: This must be conducted by your civil surgeon to ensure all health requirements are met.
By following these steps, we ensure compliance with CDC and USCIS guidelines.

Can I pay for my immigration medical exam with my medical /health insurance?
No. While applicants can submit claims to their health insurance companies for immigration medical examination costs, most insurers most likely will decline such claims since immigration medical exams are not classified as sick visits for treating medical conditions or preventative health maintenance. Insurance companies generally cover services directly related to diagnosing, treating, or screening for the policyholder's health issues. Immigration medical exams serve as an administrative purpose for the immigration process rather than stemming from the applicant's health needs.
